Georgine Koch, 96, of Bellevue, peacefully passed on Monday, March 21, 2022 while being cared for at Providence Care Center in Sandusky.
Georgine was born in Lyme Township, Bellevue, Ohio on February 22, 1926 to the now deceased Edith (Beckstein) and Otto Poths. She was a 1944 graduate of Bellevue High School.
Following high school, Georgine worked from 1942 to 1947 at the former WT Grant in Bellevue. She continued her working career at JC Penney from 1960-1987. From 1982 until her retirement, she was store manager.
On February 24,1946, she married the love of her life, Delmar Koch. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2013 after 68 years of marriage. They had enjoyed dancing, especially polkas and ball room dancing. They loved horses especially work horses and together traveled all around Ohio, to Michigan and Canada to their favorite horse shows. There they made many life long friendships.
Georgine had been an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue. She had served on the church council, taught Bible School and was a past church treasurer. Also was a member of Women of the Church, serving on the Altar Committee, along with being active in Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8592, now known as Thrivent, being a treasurer of that branch.
In 2015 Georgine, transferred her church membership to join a new church family at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Bellevue.
Mrs. Koch was a member of the Downtown Bellevue Architectural Designs Standard Board, serving for 12 years.
She took great pride in her family and enjoyed her home inside and out. She spent hours working in the yard and in her flower beds. She loved to cook and bake always trying new recipes. Pie baking was her specialty having won awards several years in a row at the Bellevue Cherry Festival. Playing Euchre at the Senior Center was a highlight of her day.
Survivors include their two children, Garry (Jan) Koch of Columbus and Barbara (Daniel) Pavlik of Port Clinton. Three granddaughters, whom Georgine adored and doted upon, Danielle, Tiffany and Leslie. Six great grandchildren, Bradley, Brock, Blakely, Mia, Julian and Zachery, survive as well.
Her sisters, Estella Vogt, Helen Lenhart and Laura Warner preceded her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2,2022 from 10:30 am until the service at 11:30 am at St. Paul United Church of Christ on Kilbourne Street, Bellevue. Rev. Dr. Diane Carter will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue is assisting the Koch family.
