Gloria Jean (Matter) Conner

Gloria Jean Conner, 89, of rural Castalia, died at The Willows of Bellevue on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Mrs. Conner was born on January 10, 1934 in Clyde to the now deceased Grayce (Tressler) and Uriah Matter.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sandusky.

All of her energy and love was invested into her family and their health and favorite foods!

She was a "charter employee" of the former Eshelman Nursing Home in Clyde, continuing to work at Arbors in the dietary division. She retired at the age of 82.

in 1953, she married Wilbur Franklin Conner, who preceded her in 2001.

Survivors include three children, Sylvia J. Coyl of Castalia; Robert (Evelyn) Conner of Hope, British Columbia, Canada and Peggy (Marvin, Jr.) Pearce of Fremont. Eight grandchildren, Melanie Coyl; Michael (Rachael) Conner, Erin (Anson) Tait; Andrew Conner; Becky (Jonathan) Taylor, Laura (John) Maike, Bethany (Jeff) Whitt and Melissa (Samuel) Gerber, , along with seventeen great grandchildren. also survive. A sister, Joy Lynn Lewis of Fremont and brother Merlin (Cookie) Matter of North Carolina survive as well.

Gloria was preceded in death by siblings, Carol Reinbolt, Chelcher Matter, Jerry Matter and Wayne Matter.

Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, with a brief memorial from 12:30 to 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church,510 West Maple St., Clyde, Ohio  43410. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Sandusky County or Erie County Humane Societies.
