Gordon D. Roach, Sr. 84, of rural Fremont, died at Bethesda Care Center on Sunday, January 28, 2018.
Mr. Roach was born in Perrysburg, Ohio on July 21, 1933 to Russell and Myrtle (Snyder) Roach.
Gordon lived most of his life in the Lindsey area, attending Lindsey School and later Fremont Ross. He worked for 32 years at the former New Departure plant in Sandusky, retiring in 1985. For 22 years, he was self employed in the sharpening of anything with edges.
On April 28, 1951, he married Kathryn Thompson. She survives. Also surviving are their five children, Gordon Jr. (Connie) Roach of Erie, Michigan; Marcus Dean (Nancy) Roach of Fremont; Linda Kay (Rick) Wagner of Fremont; Connie Lou (Tim) Schaaf of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Scott L. Roach of Fremont. Ten grandchildren, Tracy, Christopher, Kyle, Marcus, Jr., Daniel, Nicholas, Nina; Samantha, Alison and Dylan, along with ten great grandchildren and one brother, Paul (Nancy) Roach of Lindsey, a half sister, Naomi (Donald) Wise of Sylvania and an adopted brother, Gary Huffman of Texas survive as well.
Gordon was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Lynn Roach, his parents, his stepmother, Mary Roach,and a sister, Shirley Marsh.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 4-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
