Helen Bernadine "Bea" Clapp Riegel, 97, entered into her heavenly reward Saturday, January 22, 2022. She died peacefully at home after six months of illness.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 28,2022 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, A memorial service will be immediately following visitation. A private burial is planned at Greenlawn Memory Garden.
Bea Riegel was born May 22,1924 in rural Clyde to Robert Charles and Dorothy (Daniels) Clapp. She was the second of six children.
Mrs. Riegel was a graduate of Thompson High School in 1942 and the Sandusky Business College in 1944.
On June 7, 1946, she married Carl Riegel, who was a Clyde school teacher. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, homemaker and lifelong member of Clyde Missionary Church.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband Carl and her brothers, William Clapp, Phillip Clapp and Robert Wesley Clapp.
She is survived by her three daughters: Margaret (Paul) Wagner of Fishers, Indiana; Diana (Ricky) Thornton of Fremont and Renee' (Gene) Fitch of Clyde. She is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis Meyer of Centerville, Ohio and Jeanette Hansen of Clyde. Her descendants include eight grandchildren and their spouses, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Bea worked at Clyde Cutlery and Clyde-Green Springs Board of Education office. She was an excellent cook, baker, gardener, food canner, seamstress and home decorator. She served at her church in various ministries, including Sunday School secretary, nursery coordinator, prayer warrior and deaconess. She was gifted in hospitality and often invited others to enjoy aa meal around her dining room table. She visited and assisted many elderly friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Missionary Church of Clyde, 927 S. Main Street or Clean Air Radio.
The service, at 10:00 am on Friday, January 28,2022, will be live streamed for those not attending.
