Huey M. Stancil, 87, formerly of Clyde, more recently living with his daughter in Port Clinton, died at that home on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
Huey was born in Liberty Township, Pickens County, South Carolina to the now deceased Huey Melvin Sr. and Myrtle (Gilstrap) Stancil.
He was a member of the Church of God; the NRA ; UAW Local 913 and the VFW.
For 40 years, he worked for General Motors, having begun that employment prior to serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Randy) Rogers of Port Clinton and two step daughters, Bobbie Jo Matney and Shawna West' five grandsons, Daniel; Dustin; Huey; Robert; and Nick, along with three step grandchildren, Jessica Matney; Candice Gordon and JJ West. His sister, Alma (Gene) Paul, of Clyde, also survives.
Mr. Stancil was preceded in death by his wife, whom he married July 24, 1990, Catherine Rock Stancil. She died on August 31, 2017.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert H. in 2016 and Kevin in 2000, as well as an infant daughter, Deborah in 1956.
A walk through visitation, entering the front door and exiting the back door, will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 4-6:00pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Monday, June 9, 2020 at 10:30 am at the Church of God on South Main St., Clyde, with Pastor Gene Paul officiating. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery.
