Irene A. (Frey) Darr

Irene Darr passed to her glory on March 24, 2024 She was born January 16, 1938 to Isadore and Gladys (Swerlein) Frey in Kirby, OH. She was raised on a farm, the youngest of 7 children.

She attended St Mary’s School in Kirby and graduated from Wharton High School in 1956.

She met the love of her life, Harold (Gene) Darr, Labor Day Weekend 1956 at Forest Lake Dance Hall. They married on February 23, 1957 at St. Mary’s in Kirby.

Together she and Gene raised their 6 children. They also started their business, Darr’s Cleaning, in 1960. Irene answered the phone and did much of the billing and paperwork associated with their business. Darr’s Cleaning grew throughout the years. They were so proud that their sons and grandchildren are carrying on their business. Irene stood by Gene in whatever entrepreneurial adventure he pursued. Together they excelled as a team.

Mrs. Darr was a parishioner of St Mary Catholic Church in Clyde. She had been a member of the Jr League in years past, card clubs, and most recently, a member at Four County Young at Heart in Bellevue.

Irene had a beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed being in church choirs throughout her life, as well as a Sweet Adelines group.

Irene is survived by children, Bernie (Diane) Darr, Elaine Schultz, Ron Darr, Rose (Jim) Britner, Roger (Marianne) Darr, 24 grandchildren and over 40 great grandchildren, sister, Ruth Konst and sister-in-law, Darlene Frey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 67 years, Harold (Gene) Darr on March 6, 2024, son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Sandra Darr, son-in-law, Dee Schultz, sisters, Mary Elizabeth (in infancy), Loretta Quail, Rita Sullivan, brothers and sisters-in-law, Linus and Madalyn Frey and Robert and Mary Lou Frey, brother in law, Ronald Konst, brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Grace Darr, sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes and Joseph Ejhinger and Mary Ellen and Robert Meyers.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm with Rosary beginning at 5:30 pm followed by a time for sharing at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 27,2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery.
