James (Jim) Edward Butz was born on June 6, 1958 in Bellevue, OH to Judge Walter H. Butz and
Willella Radebaugh Butz. Jim lived in Bellevue all of his life and graduated in 1977 from Bellevue
Senior High School where he enjoyed participating in track and field. He recently retired from
Mitsubishi after working there for 40 years.
Jim spent his childhood summers traveling the western United States with his family collecting
rock specimens. After high school Jim became interested in the history of the Civil War. He took
his own family on trips to many of the Civil War battlefields. He especially enjoyed visiting
Gettysburg and returned many times in the past several years with his girlfriend, Laurie Trapp.
Jim is survived by his son James Christian (Kelly), his daughter Andrea Kay (Chad Pocock).
Grandchildren: Hayden, Christian, Nicholas, Haylee, and Isla. He is also survived by his mother
Willella Butz, siblings Rebecca Kulik and William (Jean) Butz, and by his long term girlfriend,
Laurie Trapp.
The family would like to acknowledge the kind, compassionate care provided by the nurses and
doctors at Metro Health in Jim’s final days. The services they provided were greatly appreciated
in these difficult times.
