Janet Dundore Obituary

Janet Opal (Oller) Dundore, 83, of Bellevue, died at The Willows of Bellevue on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Janet was born in Tiffin, Ohio on July 29, 1937. She was the only child of the now deceased Harry Dale and Opal (Powers) Oller.

Mrs. Dundore graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1955. While in school, Janet was active in the marching band. Her senior year she was the head majorette, a wonderful end of the school life.

On August 7, 1960, she married Richard H. Dundore. He survives, along with a son, Richard H. Jr. (Heather) Dundore of Fishers, Indiana and their children, Kiana (Adam) Verhoestra; Noah Dundore; Annie Dundore and Mika Dundore; and a daughter, Ellaura M. (Mark) Bruno of Bellevue.

Mrs. Dundore for over fifty years, was a member of Seybert United Methodist Church, actively serving in the United Methodist Women on the local, district and conference levels. One time she was voted as Outstanding Woman of the Year for the East Ohio Conference United Methodist Church. For four years she served on the East Ohio Conference Board of Diaconal Ministry and was secretary of the former Norwalk District Council of Ministry.

In addition, for four years she traveled throughout Appalachia with the General Board of Global Ministries to work with churches who had great potential and great need, especially lack of resources. She had been a certified Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church since 1981, serving churches throughout the East Ohio Conference.

For many summers, Janet volunteered as a Mission Interpreter of the Redbird Missionary Conference in Kentucky.

Also she had served as secretary of the Bellevue Salvation Army Board.

After Mr. Dundore became the organist for St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Bellevue, she transferred her membership to St. Paul's, being able to attend church as a couple.

Mrs. Dundore’s “salaried” positions, included working at the Tiffin State Hospital; secretary at Seybert United Methodist Church and finally the secretary/librarian at Shumaker School in Bellevue and the Bellevue High School office.

Visitation will be 9:00-11:00am Saturday, August 7, 2021 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 428 Kilbourne St, Bellevue.  A celebration of Janet’s life will be held 11:00am Saturday, August 7 at the church, with Rev. Dr. Diane Carter officiating.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 428 Kilbourne St., Bellevue or Bellevue Unit of Salvation Army; 901 Northwest St., Bellevue, Ohio.
