Janet I. Parkhurst, 90, formerly of West Cherry, Clyde, died in Clermont, Florida on Tuesday, February 27,2024.
Janet was born in Fremont on August 8, 1933 to the now deceased Elsie (Kollat) and William Bouyack.
She was a 1951 graduate of Clyde High School.
For many years she had worked at the former Park Ohio Electric in Fremont. She was well known for her cake baking and decorating, having had a shop in Clyde for over 35 years. She was a regular at craft shows with her crochet, knitting, sewing, baking and candy making. She had been on the Plaza Lanes Bowling Leagues, along with the ski club ,clogging and rolling skating. She was active in the March of Dimes and We R Mother's Club and Parents Without Partners. Janet liked her flower and vegetable gardens, canning most of the vegetables she grew.
Mrs. Parkhurst was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she had served as the Finance Secretary, along with being a member of the church choir. For a time, she was a member of the Terra Choir.
She is survived by four children, David Parkhurst of Clyde; Barbara Parkhurst of Clyde; Jerry Parkhurst Clyde; and Dennis (Annette) Parkhurst of Montverde, Florida. SIx grandchildren, Jocelyn, David, Jr; Eric, Rae Ann; Ashley and Chelsea, and eight great grandchildren along with one brother, Ernie (Kaye) Bouyack of Portsmouth, Ohio; and two sisters, Dorothy Peters and Lois Bradford survive. Also, a sister-in-law, Margaret Bouyack survives in Fremont.
Janet was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna; a daughter-in-law, Mary Parkhurst, and siblings, Joan Rogers, Clara Hemminger, Hilda Wollenslegel, and Herbert Bouyack. Her former husband, Raymond Parkhurst is deceased.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, on Friday, April 12,2024 at Noon. Visitation will be from 10:00 until noon, also at the church. Burial will follow at Parkhurst Cemetery. A luncheon will be held after the inurnment.
