JoAnne Marie Chapman, 92, formerly of rural Clyde, died at the Genoa Care Center on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Mrs. Chapman was born in Old Fort, Ohio on July 19,1931 to the now deceased Rena Marie (Smyser) and Willard Kerlin. She attended Old Fort Schools.
On May 24, 1950, she married Richard Chapman. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2023. Together, they enjoyed traveling, having been able to visit all the contiguous US states. Dick and she were happy camping.
JoAnne was an amazing homemaker and mother! She taught her children to skate, both ice and roller, She was an avid sewer and loved to crochet.
Survivors include children, Ralph (Susie) Chapman of Castroville, Texas; John (Lolita) Chapman of Bellevue; Mike (Jamie) Chapman of Attica; Bill (Nancy) Chapman of Republic; Diane Stull of Genoa; Jeanette (Jay) Cook of Gibsonburg; Rick (Amy) Chapman of Tiffin and Norma Chapman of Bellevue. Twenty-six grandchildren, along with 76 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Allen Chapman and Steven Lynn Chapman, as well as two brothers, Robert Kerlin and Willard "John" Kerlin. Her step-father, William Durst and step-mother Helen Kerlin are also deceased.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bakertown Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the School of Hope.
