John J. Baker, 84, of Clyde, died at his home on Saturday, April 20, 2024, following a period of declining health.
John was born in Clyde on September 2, 1939 to the now deceased Dorotha (Bagley) and Ross Baker. He was a member of the 1959 graduating class of Clyde High School.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde. A "work-alcoholic" with the hours of 6:00 am until 10:00 pm being a normal business day! He always considered himself a farmer who liked to work with wood.
After retiring from The Whirlpool Corp, he began his retirement job at Baker Bonnigson. Setting up tents was one of his duties and he enjoyed it. John also loved being involved with the Clyde FFA Chicken BBQ! He liked to be part of the crew on the pits. When he was able, he had enjoyed golfing and bowling.
On April 30, 1988, he married Susan Miller. She survives, as do his two daughters, Victoria (Ronald Zartman of Hinesville, Georgia and Rae Ann (David) Cooper of Clyde. Four grandchildren, Erica (Ben) Wilson, Joshua (Megan) Zartman; Walker Cooper and Levi Cooper, along with four great-grandchildren, Ezekiel and Zoe Wilson; and Genevieve and Beckett Zartman. His sister, Edna Mae Sieger of Clyde and brother, Paul (Connie) Baker of Fremont survive as well.
John was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Baker and a sister, Judy Jude.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 11:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Forest Street, Clyde.
Memorials may be made to the Clyde FFA or Southern Care Hospice of Milan.
