Joseph Knight Obituary

Joseph W. Knight, 85, of Clyde, died at his home while being cared for by his loving family on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Joe, affectionately called “Sir Knight” by himself and his family, was born on March 16, 1938 in La Follette, Tennessee to the now deceased Leotta (Bowman) Robinson and Walter Knight.

In 1956, his family settled in Clyde, where he met and fell in love with "his girl”, Barb.  He graduated in 1957 from Clyde High School.

For over 35 years, he worked for “Uncle Henry” at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, retiring in 1997.  He was such an avid Ford lover, “off brand” cars weren’t necessarily welcome in his “Ford Parking Only” driveway.  :)

Mr. Knight, a 20 year former firefighter with the Clyde Volunteer Fire Department, also served on the Ford Fire Brigade. He loved classic country music and could be heard singing in his beautiful melodic voice while working around the house and tinkering in his garage.  He enjoyed golfing, NASCAR, the Ohio State Buckeyes and all things Green Bay Packers!

On April 30,1960, he married Barbara Garn. She, along with their five children, Michelle (John) Morris of Fremont; Lisa (Mitch) Hare of Port Orange, Florida; Sherry (Satoru) Persons, Marengo ; Michael (Kelly) Knight of Lorain; and Bonnie Knight of Vandalia survive. His sister, Linda (Cledith) Franks survives in Willard. Thirteen grandchildren (Brooke, Stephanie K, Gerry, Nicholas, Brittany, Bridgette, Stephanie E, Natalie, Victoria, Brandon, Micaela, Jack and Justin) plus fourteen great grandchildren, also survive.

Private family services are to be held.
