Karen Jo McClenathan, 74 of Clyde, died, surrounded by her family, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky on Tuesday, July 19,2022.
Karen was born in New London, Ohio on February 7, 1948 to Mildred (Blaylock) and Arvel Akers.
She was a member of the class of 1967 from Clyde High School.
An avid Bingo player, such as every Wednesday night at the Clyde VFW, she was very interested in various crafts. She loved horror movies, the scarier the better! Karen also loved to play cards and go camping.
Karen was a lifetime member of the Clyde VFW Post, and a member of the Clyde Eagles.
Retiring from Whirlpool in 1996, after 14 years of employment.
Karen had trained to be a watch maker. However, her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
On February 10, 1967, she married Charles B. McClenathan. He, along with their four sons, Charles B. McClenathan (Tamara) of Bellevue; Todd (Angela) McClenathan; Shane (Kathy) McClenathan, all of Tiffin and Brandon McClenathan of Green Springs survive.
Nine grandchildren, Marissa; Zachariah, Abbegail; Jessica, Katrina, Allyson, Jenna, Junuh; and Jacob, as well as great grandsons, Regan Charles and Jadon survive. Her sister, Lisa Carroll survives in Clyde.
Mrs. McClenathan was preceded in death by her father, and mother and step father, Orville Carroll, who raised her. A grandson, Brent Charles and daughter in law, Angela Marie, along with her brothers, Arvel Akers was killed on January 8, 1966 in VietNam; Gregory Akers and Dale Carroll all preceded her in death.
