Lawrence Smith

Lawrence  Smith, 92, of Bellevue, OH, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Bellevue Hospital, following a brief illness.  
  
He was born in Harlan, KY on August 27, 1931 to the late Gillie (Fee) and Floyd Smith. On February 16, 1991 he married Lena G. (Whitman) Smith in Clyde, and she survives.

Lawrence retired from Ford Motor Co in 1988 after 35 years of service.

He attended Wayside Temple, Castalia. Lawrence loved to work in his yard and tending to his flowers.  He often called himself a "cobbler" having made several bird houses for family members.  He and Lena enjoyed bowling and playing corn hole with their friends. 
 
Lawrence is survived by his wife Lena, daughters, Vickie Hirn of Russells Point, OH, Joyce Fry of Clyde, Linda (Arlo) Elliott of Bellevue, Diane Dempsey of Sandusky, grandchildren, Lauren, Grace, Eli, Raine, Mylon, and Titus, six and a half great grandchildren, and sister, Patty Eldridge of Columbus, OH.  In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be 10:30, Saturday, March 16, 2024 until time of Funeral Service at12 noon at Wayside Temple, 3809 Maple Ave, Castalia, OH. Pastor Rusty Yost will officiate.  Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH. Arrangements entrusted to Auxter Funeral Home, Bellevue, OH.
