Leland Alfred Keegan, 90, of Vickery, died at his home on November 3, 2020, following several months of declining health.
Leland was born in Townsend Township, on June 1, 1930, the last of ten children born to the now deceased Don ad Jessie (Frederick) Keegan.
Mr. Keegan was a 1949 graduate of the former Townsend High School. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he had been a member of their former dartball team. He enjoyed sprint car racing, horse races and pinochle and euchre. He was also a member of the Clyde Eagles.
First and foremost, Leland was a farmer, but for 31 years, he had also worked at the Whirlpool Corp in Clyde.
Mr. Keegan was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War.
On May 5, 1957, he married, Emogene Bruner. She preceded him in the death on May 14, 1992.
Their three children, Linda (Scott) Black of Clyde, Rick (Karen) Keegan of Vickery and Lisa (Roger) Fruth of Tiffin survive. Also ten grandchildren, Amy Eric, Stacey, Adam Sarah; Matthew; Kendra; Bradley, Stephen and Amanda, also with seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild survive. His beloved companion of 18 years, Ruth Bates, survives as well.
Leland was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Keegan; Edna Gooding Cloud; Russell Keegan; Hazel Franks; Thelma Shade; Laurel Keegan and Viola Scherz.
Visitation, following the walk through, coming in the front door and exiting the back door, with social distancing and masks, will be on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 4-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Loehrke officiating. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery with military rites provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Stein Hospice or Townsend Township Volunteer Fire Dept. or Townsend Ruritan.
