Marabelle Smith Obituary

Marabelle E. Smith, 88, formerly of Bellevue died at Countryside Manor in Fremont on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.

Mrs. Smith was born in Huron County on July 17, 1931 to Arthur and Cora (Miller) Linder. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1949 and went to work at General Electric in Bellevue.

Later, she worked in an area school cafeteria and cleaning offices. Also, she was an active farmer's wife and mother of five.

Marabelle had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue since childhood.

Growing up in the city of Bellevue, she quickly became a farmer's wife when she married Bruce. Together they created a lifetime of memories that will live on in the hearts of their children and grandchildren. She was loved for her cookie baking, which she did weekly. Everyone would have a hand in the cookie jar when they visited. She lost her zest for life when Bruce passed. They celebrated 65 years together.

On October 9, 1950, she married Bruce Smith. The surviving children include, Linda (Dale) Cook, Arizona, Diane (Doug) Brandt, Fremont; David (Cathy) Smith, Fremont Nancy Brooks, Bellevue and Dan (Deb) Smith, Bellevue. Fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren also survive. Her surviving siblings are Donna Jean Kosman and Kenneth Linder.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Smith in 2016; a daughter, Barbara Jean Smith in 1952; son-in-law, Gary Brooks; grandson Matt Cook and her sibling; Robert Linder; Donald Linder and Richard Linder.

Family services will be held at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. with burial in Bellevue Cemetery.
