Martha Lee (Edwards) Whaley

Martha Lee Whaley, 81, of Clyde, died at her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

Martha was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on December 18, 1939 to the now deceased Ruth (Ward)  and Mason Edwards. When she was nine months old, her mother died and Martha was raised by her maternal grandmother, Clara Ward.

Mrs. Whaley was a member of Compassionate MInistries, which she helped her husband, Dee, start. She had started Wee Care Day Care in the now Church of God building on the corner of South Main and Limerick Road. She loved to camp, play the piano and sing, any sporting event and NASCAR. Her favorite activity had anything to do with her family.

On December 30, 1960, she married Daryl Lee "Dee" Whaley. He survives, along with their two children, Tami (Thomas) Potts of Clyde and Jason ( fiance', Jennifer) Whaley of Fremont. Ten grandchildren, Tabatha; Samantha; April; Micah; Nichole; Sean: Jerome: Annya; Aliana; and Aleah and twenty-five great grandchildren also survive. Four of her siblings, Ruthie Shoemaker; Nancy McCreight; Margaret Burton and Larry Dale Edwards all survive in Hillsboro, Ohio.

Martha was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia and Mary Lou and brother Bill.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 2-6:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:30 AM at the Church of God, corner of South Main Street and Limerick Road, Clyde. 

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, per the family request, made be made to the Compassionate Ministry/Food Bank or the Sandusky County Humane Society.
