Mary Jo Schmitz, 72, of Clyde, died at her home, after a short illness, on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
Mary Jo was born in Fremont on July 9, 1948, one of the nine children born to the now deceased Harvey and Ada (Gilbert) Keegan.
She was a 1966 graduate of the former Green Springs High School.
For over 30 years, Mary Jo had worked at Heinz in Fremont prior to her retirement.
On August 23, 1969, she married David R. Schmitz. He, along with their three children, Todd (Vicki) Schmitz, of Clyde; Dawn ("Bubbs" Steward) Schmitz of Fremont and Tony (Erin) Schmitz of Bellevue survive. Seven grandchildren, Maryah, Keegan; Austin, Brooke; Dakota, Savannah and Elijah also survive. Her siblings, Sue Dinan of Clyde and Fred Keegan and Robin (Marc) Palyshka, all of Green Springs also survive.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by three sisters, Penny Missler,, Shirley Kohlenberg and Janet Gold, along with two brothers, Jerry Keegan and Tom Keegan.
Mrs. Schmitz collected angel figures, along with pictures and articles involving raccoons.
A walk through visitation, entering the front door and exiting the back door, wearing masks and social distancing will be held at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 3-6:00 pm. A private service will be held with burial in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
