Melvin E. Mowry, 80, of rural Green Springs, died at his home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
Mel was born in Republic, Ohio on Jul 14, 1940 to the now deceased Glenn and Donna (Burroughs) Mowry.
He was a 1958 graduate of Clyde High School. Mel had served in the Ohio National Guard.
Mr. Mowry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, where he had served as an usher. Also, he was a member of the Clyde Eagles; Moose and VFW.
Mel loved the outdoors and all the times he spent there. Especially, he treasured his family and all of the activities that all of them did as a family.
In 2000, he retired from the Whirlpool Corp after 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Dot" (Schrader) Mowry, whom he married on October 15, 1960. Also two children, Melanie (Chuck) Zerman and Kevin ( Stacey) Mowry all of Clyde. Four grandchildren, Kayla (Aaron) Siedler; Chelsea (Thomas) Matty; Devin Mowry and Lindsay Below. One brother, Richard (Carol Ann) Mowry, survives in Cape Coral, Florida.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 3-6:00pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. Use of masks and social distancing is required. Do to the incoming weather, Mel's service will not take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice.
