Michael Wireman Obituary

A special person passed away Saturday February 27th. Michael was born to Doris and Bob Wireman in Bellevue Ohio, where he lived and graduated High School . Mike's family was in the floral business, so after taking design classes with Bill Hixon in Lakewood Ohio, Michael came back to work and finally take over the family flower shop. Michael was a great designer and loved working with flowers, and really most shop owners will tell you that is the reason they go into the business. Mike loved all holidays, especially Christmas, and did a great job on fresh center pieces and even grave blankets. A great joiner, Mike was President of one of the wire services for flowers and met his wife at one of the meetings. They ran around for quite a while together and they helped each other out when one was in a pinch. Especially the time Mike invited his wife and family down for a Sunday, where they were hoodwinked into judging holiday windows and then judges for the Miss Cherry Festival. We all still smile over that one. As things progressed Mike left the family business and came to Toledo where he worked for a number of flower shops as a designer. It was here in Toledo where Mike and His wife Louise were married and lived. Mike then went to hone his retail sales skills working at Jacobsen's department store. After that Mike went into working as a funeral director assistant, something he had done earlier with friends back home that had a funeral home. Here Mike enjoyed meeting families in need and helping where he could. His last position he even did floral designing and some catering for the funeral home. As he got older, the hours and stress of the job started to take a toll on him and he decided to stay in he funeral business, but go into the sales of monuments and markers for families with loved ones in cemeteries throughout Northwest Ohio. Here he loved his work and stayed as long as he could, doing sales, making up silks for the cemeteries and making grave blankets for the holidays. A true creative genius, Mike's house always had a great looking wreath on the door and at least one fresh arrangement inside. He converted his front yard of bad grass into a floral garden and was always working on the back yard to keep it full of flowers and blooming shrubs. The joke was that he could do anything with duct tape and paddle wire. Content to stay home, Mike and his wife had a great collection of cats over their married life, and when the people in the neighbor hood that took care of the strays died or moved away, they gradually gravitated to Mike's back porch where they were fed, spayed and neutered. He also took great care in feeding the birds and squirrels that loved in the trees in their backyard. Mike was truly a family man, he felt loss when his father died. When his mother moved to Florida he made sure he called everyday to talk to her, and had her come and visit for the winter holidays. A soft heart, Mike helped volunteer with his wife with many projects over the years. He was preceded in death by his father Bob Wireman. Left to cherish his memories his wife, Louise Mikesell-Wireman,  mother, Doris Wireman brother Patrick (Trudy) and a niece and nephew. Private graveside services will be held at the Bellevue Cemetery where he will be buried next to his parents and grandparents. A memorial graveside service will be held 10:30am Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Bellevue City Cemetery with Rev. Justin Jump officiating.
