Olive Lucille Weller, 96, of rural Bellevue, died surrounded by family at the Bellevue Hospital on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Olive was born in Pleasant Township, Seneca County, Ohio on November 29, 1925 to the now deceased Arthena (Coffman) and Gust E. McConnell. She was a 1943 graduate of the former Thompson High School and attended Tiffin University post-graduation.
For over twenty-one years, Olive was employed by Kroger in Bellevue. She also served as the Clerk of Thompson Township for twenty years.
Mrs. Weller was a member of Zion United Church of Christ – Fireside, where she served as church treasurer. She had served as an Elder and President of the Congregation, and a member of the Women’s Fellowship and Gleaners Class for many years.
Not only was Olive a pillar in the community, but the matriarch of her family. On April 12, 1945, she married the love of her life, Charles Weller, Jr. They had 3 children and celebrated over forty years of marriage prior to his death on June 1, 1992.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra Lieske (Todd) of Bellevue and Linda Rohrbacher (Ray) of Fremont and her 9 grandchildren, Christopher Lieske (Peggy); Dana Smith (Stu); Troy Lieske (Melinda); Andrew McDivitt, Jill McDivitt; Gretchen Weller-Cooks (La Juane); Gary “Buddy” Weller II (Mindy); Amanda Gorman (Patrick) and Emily Ghassab (Mehdi).
Additionally, she is survived by twenty-six great-grandchildren and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren, along with her siblings, Jean Wolfe of Findlay, Jeff McConnell of Bellevue, and John McConnell of Port Clinton.
Olive was preceded in death by a son, Gary Weller I, on November 29, 2008, a granddaughter, Marla Blake, two great grandchildren, and siblings, Mary Rospert, Betty Recupero, Dorothy Moyer, and Edward McConnell.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 2:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue.
The funeral will be on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:30a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ - Fireside.
Burial will be in Fireside Cemetery.
