Peggy J. (Markins) Rettig

Peggy J. Rettig, 82, of Clyde, died at the Stein Inpatient in Sandusky, on Wednesday, September 20,2023.

Peg was born in Edgewood, Indiana on March 29,1941. She was a 1959 graduate of Nineveh High School in Indiana.

She married Weldon "Pete" Rettig, Jr. on August 9,1959. He preceded her in death on January 28,2002.

Mrs. Rettig had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, as well as being very active in the Sandusky County Election Board and Sandusky County Women's Republican Party. She loved local politics!  Whenever she was able, she would travel to see The VanDells, a musical group that she loved!

Peg had worked in a maternity ward in a hospital in Indiana, prior to moving her, then she worked for the Board of Elections and The Whirlpool Corporation.

Surviving are two sons, James W. (Jan) Rettig of Perrysburg and Jefferson (Joyce) Rettig of Bellevue. Nine grandchildren, Samantha, Kendra; Tyler, Jenna, Dakota, Christian; Kevin, Kyle , and Robert, along with several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jana Rettig in 1997 and a son, Jon Michael in 1979. Also proceeding her was a great great granddaughter and siblings, James "Bud" Markins and Doris Simmons.

A Celebration of Life for Peg will be on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Clyde Municipal Building in the basement .

Memorials may be made, if desired, to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's.
