Phyllis M. Gilbert, 94, of Clyde, died peacefully at the University of Toledo Medical Center on Friday, April 10, 2020.
Phyllis was born in Lorain,Ohio on July 8, 1925 to the now deceased Carl W. and Laura (Breckenridge) Duecker. She was a 1943 graduate of Lorain High School.
On September 20,1945 she married Robert J. Gilbert. Together, they were owners of the former Danish Pastry in Fremont for many years and the Lighthouse in Clyde. Robert preceded her in death on December 14, 2007.
Mrs. Gilbert really enjoyed going to the casino and playing the lottery. She was a wonderful baker and quilter. She and Bob had belonged to a camping club, where she liked to knit and crochet as much as she did at her own home. She was a family oriented wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Two daughters survive, Beverly (Donald) Burroughs and Nancy (Louis) Snyder, all of Clyde. Five grandchildren, Rhonda (Tom) Yeaszel; Susan Capucini; Dawn (Chris) Gibson; Leroy Snyder and Timothy (Alicia) Snyder, thirteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren survive as well.
Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Gerstenberger and Arline Busser.
A public graveside service will be held at McPherson Cemetery on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 1:00pm.
