Phyllis Mae Jess 92, of Fremont Ohio passed away on January 4th 2021.
She was born on December 18, 1928 in Fremont, Ohio to Bernard and Lucille (Klein) Cole.
Phyllis graduated from Fremont Ross High School iin the Class of 1946.
In 1947, she married Walter (Jim) Foster in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1956. She then married Theodore Jess in 1959. Ted died in 2007.
She was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont.
Mrs. Jess worked at the Howard Zink Co., Bendix Corp., Mosser Construction and retired from the Buckeye Council of Camp Fire in 1989.
Phyllis enjoyed travelling with Ted and their friends, attending her family’s sporting, music and theatrical events and a good trip to the Dollar Store. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles as well as watching an occasional Cleveland Browns, Indians or Ohio State Buckeyes game. Long phone calls with family, friends and neighbors were an important part of her day. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and all the wonderful people who helped take such good care of her over the past several years.
Surviving family members include son Gregg Jess (Laura) of Green Springs, son in law Timothy Wiersma of Fremont and son Steven Jess (Karen) of Clyde.
Phyllis had ten grandchildren Manda Nofziger (Jason), Marla Jess (Dan), Michael Riedmaier (Katie) and Joshua Riedmaier. Adam Willer (Taylor), Carolyn and Gabrielle Wiersma. Alex Jess (Colleen), Sam Jess (Sarah), Kate Cook (Dristen). She also had ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister Doris O’Brien (Patrick) and daughter Suzanne Wiersma.
Phyllis chose to donate her body to the University of Toledo Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
