Richard A. Frantz, 62, of Indianapolis, formerly of Clyde, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2020.
Richard was born on February 17, 1958 to the now deceased Clarence and Rita (Lamb) Frantz in Fremont, Ohio
He was a graduate of Clyde High School and attended Terra State Community College, graduating with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Richard prooudly served in the United States Army from 1980-1983 and the Army Reserves until 1986.
Mr. Frantz joined the Indianapolis Police Department as a Patrolman in 1984 and retired after 28 years of service in 2012. He received many commendations during his years as a Patrolman.
Richard was an avid fan of Ohio State football, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. If it was a sport team from northern Ohio, he was a fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Terri, daughter Jillian (Ken) Cooper of Santa Clarita, California; step-son, Michael (Amanda) Hubenthal of Fairland; step-daughter, Kellie Berkebile of Indianapolis, grandchildren, Madison Cooper, Sasha Cooper, Ari Cooper, Nicholas Stover, Austin Stover and Elizabeth Berkebile. HIs sisters, Linda (Dale Steinmetz) Camden of Fremont; Patricia (Tim) Rupright of Fostoria; Marie (Rick Whiting) Smith of Gibsonburg and Cindy (Jamie Stein) Noftz of Clyde, along with an aunt, Catherine Gildenmeister of Bellevue, also survive. Several nieces and nephew, and his beloved IPD?IMPD Police family survive as well.
Graveside services will be held at Bakertown Cemetery on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM with military rites provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
