Richard J. Jones, 88, of rural Clyde, unexpectedly died at his lifetime home, on Monday, March 23, 2020.
Dick was born on September 21, 1931. He graduated from the former Townsend Township High School in 1949.
A lifetime farmer, Dick also worked as a truck driver. He had formerly been the Director of Transportation at the School of Hope in Fremont. He had served on the Norther Ohio Rural Water Board, prior to resigning from this position. He and his late wife, Jean, had been the State Youth Directors for the Ohio Grange for a number of years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau an the Teamsters Union.
Mr. Jones enjoyed farming, NASCAR, puzzles, golf and bowling. He was known to love his sweets, pie, cake, ice cream, etc.
On June 16, 1951, he married Jean Stickel. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2015.
Dick is survived by a daughter, Janet Ritchart of Clyde; a son, Douglas (Julie) Jones, of Huron. Three grandchildren, Nichole Carte; Tony (Vickie) Artino and Angie Wax. Nine great grandchildren, Brandon; Dakota; Brandon; Coraleen; Tyler; Logan; Conrad; Gavin and Anthony, also survive. Two sisters, Sue Schlea of Fremont and Carol Beeker of Indiana survive as well.
Mr. Jones is preceded in death by an infant son, Richard, and his parents, Katherine (Wilbert) Jones Bravard and Ralph Jones.
Due to the coronavirus, a graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at noon at Parkhurst Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
