Richard LeRoy Noftz,83, of Clyde, died at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky on Monday, May 2, 2022.
“Dick” was born in Fremont on April 5, 1939 to Leona Mae (Sparks) and Clarence Albert Noftz.
He attended the Clyde schools until he was 17, then joined the United States Navy and served until he was 21 years old. He received his high school diploma in 1978.
Always working in shipping and receiving, Mr. Noftz retired from Curwood/Bemis Manufacturing, having worked prior at Columbia Showcase and Eckrich.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde, the Clyde Moose and Clyde Eagles, along with the Clyde VFW, where he formerly was the canteen manager.
On September 16, 1959, he married Janet Lee Simco. She preceded him in death on February 26,2017.
Survivors include three children, Richard “Rick” Noftz and Randall “Randy” (Debbie) Noftz, both of Newark, Ohio and Vickie Perske of Clyde. Grandchildren, Jeremy Noftz, Michelle Noftz, whom he and Janet helped raise; Chelsey Noftz, Kevin Noftz; Joshua Perske; Jacquelyn Perske (Jon); Jennifer (Zac) Walton; Jarrod Young; Shyanne (Daniel) Gray. Chloe Holsinger and eight great grandchildren survive as well. One brother, Jerry Noftz of Sandusky and sister, Christie Irick of Bellevue also survive.
Mr. Noftz was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Darl, Clenton and Don Noftz, along with a grandson, Jacob H. Young.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 5,2022 from 5-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Friday, May 6,2022 at 10:30 am at The First United Methodist Church, Clyde. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
