Robert E. Downing

Robert E. Downing, 85, of Vickery, died on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Elmwood Health Care in Fremont.

Bob was born in Sandusky on July 17,1936 to Viola (Neidler) and Robert D. Downing.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Vickery. He enjoyed gardening and restoring cars. His favorite activity was farming! He liked John Deere's especially.

Mr. Downing was a member of the 1955 graduating class of the former Townsend High School.

For many years, he was quality inspector at Whirlpool, prior to his retirement.

On October 1,1955, he married Elizbeth "Betty" Limber. She preceded him in death on July 23,2015.

Survivors include four children, Danny Downing of Fremont; Diane Flowers of Virginia; Jill (Brad) Ruhlman of Bellevue and Joy (Dennis) Smith of Bellevue. Also,six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one sister Linda (Gerald) Keegan of Fremont survive.

Mr. Downing was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Evelyn Dalton.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 26,2022 from 3-5:00pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.

Private family burial will in Parkhurst Cemetery.
