Ruth J. Paul, 100 years loved, a life-long resident of Bellevue, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Willows.
She was born March 18, 1918 in Bellevue to Carl C. & Jenne (Gazlay) Zehner. She graduated Bellevue High School in 1936 and attended Capital University for a year. Mrs. Paul was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. She loved singing and was a member of the choir for over 80 years. She sang many solos for weddings in the area. Sharing her love of singing, she also directed the children's choir at church. She volunteered with Bible School and at the Bellevue Hospital. Her summers were spent enjoying her time at her cottage in Lakeside.
On September 4, 1940, she married R. Donald Paul. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1973.
Survivors include their children: Roger (Ann) Paul of Bellevue; Marilyn (Jack) Reinhardt of Powell; and Patricia (Thomas) Sweigard of Grove City; grandchildren: Christi (Peter) Wurm; Daniel (Jody) Paul; John Reinhardt; Aaron (Amanda) Sweigard; Andrew (Julie) Sweigard; Sarah (Mike) D'Attoma; great-grandchildren: Ava, Sofie, Sadie, Wesley, Fredrick, Brenna, Ezra, Judah, Levi, Flora, Camila, and Titus.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings: Margaret, Robert, Clifford, and Carl Zehner.
Ruth's family would like to thank the Willows staff, Stein Hospice staff, and Jan LaBonte for the extra-ordinary care they provided for Ruth in her final years; truly there are angels among us.
Visitation will be 10-11:00am Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St, Bellevue. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00am Tuesday at church with Rev. Mark Bogen officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue City Cemetery. Auxter Funeral Home of Bellevue is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church or Stein Hospice.
