Sam Montgomery

Sam Montgomery, 93, of Clyde, Ohio died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Willows at Bellevue.

 

He was born August 29, 1928 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Harkness L. & Hester (Cole) Montgomery.  Sam was a member of the Clyde Eagles and Clyde Moose.  He enjoyed hunting and farming.  He had worked at the Parkertown Quarry for over 40 years.

 

On August 18, 1955 he married Tressie (Zirkles) and she preceded him in death on March 15, 1992.  He married Henrietta (Gilbert) Rhodes on September 6, 1993 and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2016.

 

Sam is survived by his step-children: John (Carolyn) Rhodes of Clyde; Mitchell (Sandra) Rhodes of Helena; Paul (Donna) Rhodes of Rowlett, Texas; and Susie Rhodes of Garland, Texas; step-grandchildren: Brian (Crystal Lynn) Rhodes; Aaron (Sarah) Rhodes; Dawn (Robert) McCaleb; Andrew Rhodes; Christopher Rhodes; Joshua Rhodes; Emily Rhodes; Sarah Rhodes; and step-great-grandchildren: Andrew Rhodes; Leta Rhodes; Lathon Rhodes and Roger Rhodes.

 

In addition to his parents and his wives, Sam was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Linda Weng; brothers: Matt, Ted, Roman, Russell; Esaw, Rousaw, Hager, Ollie; sisters: Peachie Rigsby; Faye Hicks; and two infant sisters.

 

Visitation will be 11:00am-1:00pm Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St, Clyde, Ohio.  The Eagles will hold a service at 1:00pm at the funeral home.  Additional visitation will be Noon-2:00pm, Friday, November 26, 2021 at Boyer Funeral Home, 125 W. Second St, Waverly, Ohio.  A funeral service will be held at Boyer Funeral Home at 2:00pm Friday, Nov. 26.  Burial will follow in Gardner Cemetery in Waverly, Ohio.

 

Memorials may be given to the Sandusky County Humane Society or the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Sandusky, where Sam always received great care.
