Sharon Kay Smoot, 71, of Sycamore, died at her home on Monday, February 26, 2024 after a battle with cancer.
Sharon was born in Kentucky on September 7, 1952 to the now deceased Juanita (Johnson) and Guy Kilgore.
She had spent most of her life in this area, graduating in 1970 from Clyde High School.
She began her working career as a car hop at Frishes, and then worked on electric motors, becoming the #1 woman in the State of Ohio in that area.
On March 29, 1971, she married Michael R. Smoot. He survives. Three daughters, Michelle (Charles R.) Ickes of Fremont, Jenny (Jerry) Flynn of Clyde and Tiffany (Tony) King of Green Springs also survive. Eight grandchildren, Brenah, Trey; Ashleigh (Jordan), Bryleigh, Jayleigh; Tanner, Trenton and Tucker, along with great grandchildren, Brysleigh, Rhys, Baby M and Quynneth survive as well. One sister, Deb (Jeff) Humbert of Clyde and one brother, Christopher Kilgore of Tiffin are surviving. Two "fur babies", Keela and Mugsy are missing her at home.
Mrs. Smoot was preceded in death by a brother, Kerry Kilgore. One "fur baby", Sissy preceded her in death.
Sharon enjoyed the outside where she could be with some of the things she loved: sunflowers, red roses, lilacs, honeysuckle, poinsettias and Easter Lilies, along with windchimes, hummingbirds, turtles and butterflies.
Private family services are to be held.
