Shirley S. (Borer) Ross

Shirley S. Ross, 74, of Clyde, died on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, Ohio.

Shirley was born on May 18, 1946 in Fremont to the now deceased Albert and Carolyn (Sherman) Borer. 

She was a member of the 1964 graduating class of Clyde High School. Also a member of the Clyde Eagles Auxiliary and a past member of the Clyde Firemen's Auxiliary. 

Mrs. Ross was a retired U.S. Postal worker, having worked 30 years as a rural mail carrier. In her early years as a mail carrier, she started writing replies to children that wrote to Santa Clause. This program was passed down through many people and is now headed by her daughter, Amy.

After retiring in 2003, she and Gary bought a home in Schalamar Creek, Lakeland, Florida, where she enjoyed shuffleboard, bingo, cooking and helping the activities committee set up dances and other activities for the residents in the winter months.

Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Gary Ross on May 22, 1965. He along with their two children, Mark, his wife, Robin Ross of Green Springs and Amy, her husband, Mark Wobser of Clyde and seven grandchildren survive. Her two sisters, Donna Gooslin and Faye, her husband, Terry Langham all of Clyde and one brother, Dale Borer of Fremont survive as well.

Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julie. 

A memorial service will be 10:30am Saturday, May 22, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 147 W. Forest St, Clyde.
