William Lee Greene

William L. Greene, 78, of rural Fremont, died at The Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

William was born in Huron Ohio on August 11, 1944 to the now deceased Alvia (Smith) and Gilbert Greene.

Mr. Greene was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Fremont Ross High School.

He had been a mechanist at Century Die prior to his retirement.

An avid hunter, especially deer, he liked to fish on Lake Erie, along with fly his model planes. His favorite times were spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

William was a member of the Fremont Eagles, where he enjoyed meeting his friends, and the Fremont VFW.

On September 29, 1964, he married Mickey Chumley. She, along with their two daughters, Wendi (Ed) Barger of Fremont and Melissa (Jeff) Wadsworth of Green Springs survive. Six grandchildren, Jeremiah (Krystal) Greene, Alysha Barger, Kylie (Tony) Pooch; Jason (Amanda) Carnicom; McKenzie Wadsworth and William Wadsworth also survive. Twelve great grandchildren and a half brother and a half sister survive as well.

Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his birthfather, as well as his mother and stepfather, who raised him, Carl Cook. Also three grandsons, Carl Thomas and William and Dustin and his brother Richard Greene preceded him .

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at noon at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio.
