William Alfred Magers, passed in peace on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the age of 89, at his home in Bellevue.
William was the beloved husband of Carolyn J. Magers for twenty years.
He was born in Bellevue. The son of Alfred Erwin and Blanche Mable (Smith) Magers.
His sister, Betty Jane Linder preceded him in death.
William loved his children, Mark Magers of Bellevue; Mike Magers and Melody of Milan, Ohio and Melissa and Pat Meloy of Derry, Pennsylvania. His grandchildren, Vince Magers, Natalie Marshall, Elizabeth Wilson and Alanna Meloy were a constant joy to him. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, five step children, 13 step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. He was a very blessed father and grandfather.
He attended and graduated from Bellevue High School, then served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954.
Mr. Magers was proud of serving and proud of his brother in arms, along with his family and friends and his hometown. He always wanted to make a difference.
He worked at the Buick garage, Bellevue Police Department, along with twenty-eight years at the Ohio Turnpike. Plus he was a farmer.
William loved doing Bingo for two years with the American Legion, and his membership in the Legion, where he had served as Post Commander for several years, as well as being a member of the Amvets.
The Marine Corps Toy for Tots was a project he started in the Bellevue area he was very active for ten years.

A graveside service, with military rites, provided by the Bellevue VFW, American Legion and Marine Corps League will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Bellevue City Cemetery.
